How to Legally Dump a Bunch of Trash Bags

Waste management is a critical issue not just in the country but also throughout the world.

Waste has been, and continues to be part of our lives, as long as we continue existing.

Without a proper plan and management techniques, people can struggle with loads of trash for not knowing what to do with them.

As people continue exploring and inventing new sustainable ways of disposing of waste, one crucial aspect arises, legality.

As sustainable and smart as they may seem, some methods are illegal and they may attract unnecessary fines.

This article focuses solely on various methods of dumping a bunch of trash bags legally.

Junk Removal is an important service in PA

Community Cleanup Days

As a way of maintaining clean and sustainable environments, most municipalities across the country have designated certain days of the year or month for communal cleanup. During those days, the communities undertake various cleanup exercises that include clearing bushes, unclogging drainage lines, and collecting trash from public spaces. These exercises give the residents a chance to dispose of their accumulated trash bags from their curbsides. However, even as you look forward to the cleanup day, do not just remove the bags and retreat to your house; ensure to participate in this noble cause.

Donation/Reuse

The sad reality of life is that we will never be equal; some will have more than others in terms of material possessions. This being the case then, what you presume to be waste can prove beneficial for someone else. For instance, when upgrading furniture or appliances, you must first get rid of the old ones, even if they may not be necessarily torn or broken. It is therefore humane to consider offering such items for donation, as there are still people who may direly need them. You can take such items to charitable organizations where needy people often visit. Alternatively, you can place them on your curb and stick ‘FREE’ tags so that needy people can identify them.

Dumpster Rental

A few trash bags say 3 or 4, are easier to dispose of through the common waste methods such as curbside collection. However, for bigger waste loads for instance the one produced during house renovation and yard upgrade; dumpster rental is the most convenient disposal method. Depending on the size you choose, dumpsters have all the space you need for bigger bunches of trash bags. Dumpster rental offers homeowners the freedom to toss whatever item and at their pace, provided they are within the rental period and permitted items boundaries. When full, the renter notifies the service company after which they come to haul it away.

Burning

For some items such as paper, dry leaves, and twigs from yard upgrade, you can go ahead and burn them in your backyard. However, even in your own backyard, burning items may attract fines from the Owner’s Association or local authorities.

Curbside Collection

The most common waste disposal method is through the common curbside collection. With this method, homeowners put their trash bags on their curbsides and their contracted waste companies pick them up for disposal. Some companies allow a bunch of bags in their packages while most will charge a small fee for the extra trash bags. If not, you can opt for the bulk collection packages where you can get rid of a bunch of trash bags in one go.

Landfill or Transfer Station

Another great method of disposing of bunches of trash bags is taking them directly to the landfills or transfer stations. Direct disposal cuts the increased waste fees charged by local waste companies thereby offering you some financial prudence. It is however important to note that the landfills may impose some small fees for direct disposal. Ensure to check with them before dumping your bunch.

Recycling Centers

Recycling is the most sustainable management method when dealing with waste. It gives environmental enthusiasts a chance to play a role in combating the effects of climate change. Recycling centers allow residents to drop off recyclable items including paper, plastic, and metals. Since these recycling centers are profit making and often enjoy credits from the government, they may sometimes offer a small reward for dropping off these items. Even without the reward, recycling can help you save some money from the reduced overall waste size.

When it comes to waste management and disposal, federal and local laws are sometimes very stringent, given their commitment to achieving environmental sustainability. Before adopting certain disposal methods, you first have to investigate and understand the prevailing laws. This way, you will never be on the wrong side of the law.
